النقطة: وتعد باعتبار صفر الانطلاق للشروع بتكوين أي شكل، وتعتبر الجزء الأصغر في أي تركيب يتطلب للمنطقة والأبعاد الهندسية.
الخطوط: تُعبّر عن حركة النقطة ومسيرها في اتجاه ما، ويتنوع بين مستقيم وحلزوني ومنحنى ومغلق.
الشكل: وهو المنطقة الداخلية التي تنتج إثر التقاء الخطوط والنقاط مع بعضها القلة.
المقدار والكتلة: أي الإحساس بثقل الجسد أو الشكل ووزنه.
الملمس: وهو المقدار السطحية التي تترك أثراً ملحوظاً في الحاسة البصرية أو الحسية فوق سطح الأشياء.
اللون: وهو الانفعال الذي تتعرض له العين المجردة عن طريق تحلل الأشعة الضوئية، ومن الممكن الدلالة إليه بأنه الانعكاس المشهود فوق سطح ما، وينشطر إلى ألوان أساسية؛< وهي: الأزرق، والأحمر، والأصفر، وألوان ثانوية؛ وهي: البرتقالي، والأخضر، والبنفسجي.
الضوء والظل: تُعد الإنارة عنصراً غير سلبي النفوذ، أما الظل فعلى النقيض كلياً، أي أنه عنصر سلبي.
الفراغ: هو الحيز الذي يحف الشغل الفني في حال كان مجسماً.

الاتزان: يعبر به عن الإحساس بالاستقرار في الشغل، إذ يحد من طغيان أي عنصر على عنصر آخر في الشغل الفني.
الوحدة: يتحقق ذلك الأساس في حال حدوث انسجام حقيقي بين أجزاء الشغل الفني نتيجة وحدة المقصد أو الوصلة بين الأجزاء المتغايرة.
الإيقاع: يجيء الإيقاع ليخلق نوعاً من التنظيم بين فواصل الشغل الفني ووحداته، ويتفاوت نفوذ التنظيم بين المقدار واللون أو حتى مركز الدرجات والعلاقات بين الأنواع.
النسبة والتناسب: وهي رابطة رياضية بين الأنواع في الأصل، وتبحث في اهتمام التناسق والتناسب بين المقادير والأشكال.
السيادة: يعبر ذلك الأساس عن الجزء الأكثر انتشاراً وغالبية في محور الشغل الفني، أي الفكرة الأساسية التي بُني عليها الشغل، إذ تنساق مختلَف أجزاء الشغل الفني لذلك المحور أو الفكرة.
